The 55th-anniversary celebration of SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School began on a memorable note with a grand thanksgiving service followed by a delightful opening ceremony. The event, held around noon on 12 March 2025 in the school hall, was a blend of gratitude, nostalgia and thanksgiving.

 

 

 

The day started with the thanksgiving service, an occasion for IMC members, guests, staff and students to come together in gratitude. The sermon was delivered by the Most Reverend Andrew Chan, on our school motto ‘The truth will make you free.’ (John 8:31-36) He advised fellow students and audience to guard our hearts against the penetration of faddish thoughts such as existentialism and  postmodernism.  We were reminded of the importance of seeking truth in Jesus Christ, the incarnate Word.

 

 

 

Hymns filled the air as the school madrigals performed melodious renditions of ‘Northern Lights’, declaring our admiration of God’s beauty. Solemn prayers were offered for the school’s founders, past leaders, teachers, parents and all who contributed to its growth over the decades. 

 

 

 

Following the service, the 55th-anniversary opening ceremony commenced with the lively presentations of Student Fellowship chairpersons. Both Dr. Yuk, the school supervisor, and Mr. Cheng, the principal, delivered uplifting speeches, highlighting milestones achieved over the years and painting blueprints for future development. A team of S5 ICT students produced a lovely video recounting school history, moving the audience to both laughter and tears.  Guests and IMC members were invited to lead a countdown on stage.  It was a blast when confetti cannons popped and everyone celebrated the joyous moments with great cheers.

 

 

 

Afterwards, there were energetic musical performances by string ensemble and erhu ensemble, showcasing the diverse talents nurtured by the school. Audience was left in adoration of the vigour and intensity of music.

 

 

 

The event ended with a sense of pride and renewed commitment to the school’s values. The School Foundation Day was a day to cherish—a perfect blend of reflection, celebration and vision for the future.
