2024-2025 Commission Service was smoothly conducted on 22 October, Tuesday. It was an important occasion in Lam Woo where all school members assembled to celebrate the inheritance of school traditions and the renewal of responsibility.
In his powerful sermon, our school chaplain Reverend Wu explained the meaning of ‘leaders’ translated into Chinese characters of ‘collars’ (領) and ‘sleeves’ (袖), which are the most obvious parts of a garment. At the same time, both ‘collars’ and ‘sleeves’ also represent how someone who wishes to take up a leading position should possess self-control and know the direction of leadership. This year, we also had the extraordinary honour of our school supervisor Dr. Alice Yuk’s presence. She gave an encouraging speech asking students to develop leadership qualities such as dedication, courage and perseverance. Most important of all, she reminded us not only to give our attention to world leaders across different sectors, but with humility and gratitude, to see ourselves as leaders we wish to become.
With the dedication of our school principal Mr. Cheng and the blessings from Reverend Wu, 166 student leaders from various teams, committees and sections were commissioned to serve in their respective roles. They passed along the candle light, stemming from the Light of Christ, so that everyone in the school would be brightened and blessed by their service. As the lyrics go in the hymn ‘Pass It On’: The Lord of Love has come to me, I want to pass it on… May all school members play a part in passing on the flame of giving daily service in building the school and the greater community.
